Manual Hand Controls

The Manual Hand Controls come in 2 actions, the push/pat and the push/pull.

The Push/Pat action is to push forward on the control lever to brake and to drop the lever to accelerate.

The Push/Pat action is to push to brake and pull back to accelerate.

It appears that the preface with OT’s is to prescribe the Push/Pat due to the reduced effort for the acceleration action. There is less strain on the shoulders to drop the control lever than to pull back.

We are able to include the multi-function controls on the control lever to operate the lights, indicators and horn without releasing the hand grip.

With the introduction of the Knee Air Bag into the modern vehicle we will be limited as to the applications. Queensland Transport will not permit the relaxation of any safety features fitted to a vehicle.  This requires an Electronic Hand Control that will be covered in a later article.
